JCI College and Vocational Scholarships

The West Virginia Junior Chamber International Senate (A Jaycee Honorary) is once again assisting in soliciting applications for U S Senate Foundation grants in aid.

These $1500.00 and $2000.00 grants are given each year to incoming college freshman to help offset education-related expenses. The grants are awarded on the basis of scholarship, a personal statement outlining the applicant’s college goals, demonstrated leadership ability, financial need, and other criteria. Additional grants of $1000 will be going to students studying at a vocational, industrial or trade school. In addition to the above grants, the West Virginia Junior Chamber International Senate will award a $250.00 Victoria C Bruhn Memorial scholarship to the winner and $100.00 T Dewitt Shingleton / Stewart Howard scholarship to the runner-up. Both the first and second place winners will be forwarded to the USJCI Senate Foundation for consideration for their scholarships. Past national winners include Caleb Messer from Scott High School (2024) and Kayleigh Zemerick from North Marion High School (2025).

Applications may also be accessed at http://www.usjcisenate.org/index.php/scholarship-program.

Also, I would like to point out some important information about how applications are being judged. They are judged on a point system. Many students fail to turn in reference letters. (THREE TOTAL). They are worth a point each. Each point makes a difference. Each page needs your name and page number at the top of the page. Any other documentation you provide will need to have your name and page number on the top of the page also. Last year more than half of the entries were disqualified due to not following ALL instructions.

Completed application forms must be postmarked no later than January 12th, 2025. Winner will be notified sometime in mid to late April.
