The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship program is one of the largest privately funded, need based scholarship programs in our country.
As the very first West Virginia recipient of a Horatio Alger Scholarship way back in 1989, I can attest to how impactful these scholarships, the support of the association and the extend family of scholar alumni can be. – Roy James
This year they will award over 100 national scholarships of $25,000 and over 600 state scholarships of $10,000 along with many other targeted scholarships.
The national and state scholarships are awarded to high school juniors, while other target scholarships are awarded to seniors.
The scholarship application period for juniors is now open and closes on 3/1/2026. Seniors’ application period closes on February 15, 2026.
